ZDS analytics are designed to include specialty-based measures such as relative value units (RVUs), anesthesia units, visits, E&M and clinical activity, and peer cohort comparison. Depending on the data available for a specialty, leaders can review productivity per visit and across worked days. Clinical measures may include E&M levels, acuity mix, critical care activity, admitted visits, face-to-face visits, and related activity. Providers can also review their own production over time and against their cohort.
When a practice uploads provider schedules, ZDS can add per-shift and per-hour views. This creates a more complete picture of how provider activity changes across dates, locations, and scheduled time.
ZDS separates productivity RVUs from billing RVUs because each answers a different question. In shared services, productivity credit can reflect each participating provider’s contribution, so the same encounter may appear for more than one provider. Billing measures assign credit only to the primary rendering provider. Separate productivity rows support provider-level access by national provider identifier (NPI).
Most importantly, rather than attempting a one-size fits all formula, this structure is a starting point that prioritizes flexibility and aligns measure with purpose. Leaders can choose the view that fits their question and adapt the analysis to their organization. ZDS supports flat or base RVUs, and clients can apply their own payroll calculations through self-service business intelligence or Excel instead of relying on hard-coded rules. This flexibility allows different compensation models to build from the same reliable data foundation.
ZDS places provider results in context through blinded peer cohorts. Each peer cohort groups providers by client, the same set of locations, provider type, and time period. A provider can see their own results alongside the combined results for the matching peer group, while the benchmark data remains blinded.
Additionally, role-based access protects financial information. Finance users can retain the financial visibility required for their responsibilities. Medical directors can review productivity for their assigned groups without gaining access to financial data, and individual providers can view their own participating charges and visits through financially blinded dashboards.
Once provider schedules have been uploaded, leaders can unlock productivity per shift, productivity per hour, shift utilization, and schedule-based analysis.
These views give medical and operational leaders a consistent basis for staffing discussions. Rather than relying only on encounter totals or broad monthly reports, they can review performance in the context of the time providers were scheduled to work.
ZDS also expands how productivity information reaches users. Scheduled email notifications can deliver secure productivity data on a set cadence without requiring a portal login. Practices have the option to start with dashboard and reporting templates or build customized reports from the new measures. Reporting can also be co-branded with the practice’s logo and colors.
This approach makes it easier to share relevant information with the people who can act on it. Leaders gain a clearer view of staffing and performance, while providers can see their own provider productivity in the context of an appropriate peer group without opening access to financial data.
